Sloss No. 2-THE WORST IS DONE

I've slowly been working on the sloss full length.  I haven't realllly been trying to write because I'm tired of playing guitar, but this approach has actually helped with the writing process.  By avoiding guitar, the riffs feel very honest and not forced. The first part/half of the album is written, with a just a few song tweaks and solidifying the drums.  So far the first half clocks in at 18 minutes.  This portion of the album was the most difficult to write because it is all riffed based, which represents the main character before his accident in the mine.  The second half is based off the drums, which is coming together nicely because I actually like drumming and the experimentation factor is a lot higher.  This represents the main character after his accident.Drums take a lead approach while the guitar(or maybe synth) just add to the background.   After doing some quick math, I believe this is year three for me writing this.

Sloss 3 way split with Ghost Beds and (endlight)

I got bored with guitar and metal, so I wrote some dark ambient/noise stuff for fun.  Check it out here https://sloss.bandcamp.com/album/split .  It's only 6 minutes worth of material from Sloss, but the three songs are about a person going out for their normal swim and drowning..  Be sure to check out Ghost beds and (endlight).  They hit the ambient stuff more than I do, so if that's your thing definitely check them out.

FULL LENGTH.  I've been working on the full length.  Storyline is in place,  first 2 parts have a solid structure, third part is developing, and I am starting to not suck on drums.

Furnace(ep) with vocals and new material

The instrumental ep known as Furnace, that I was basically through with, will now have vocals in it.  Thanks to Eric Baker for writing the lyrics and yelling his face off.  We will be releasing each song(casually) one at a time.  Once all the songs are finished, the entire ep will be available to download for free on the bandcamp page.  Until then, here is the opening song blast furnace with vocals. blast furnace

New album! For a year or more, I've been working on a new full length concept album for sloss.  The concept of the album takes place in Sloss mine number 2 involving a convict laborer. More info soon as the concept story is fully developed. The new material will be heading down a darker/angular path, with little to no grind ,and more experimentation.  The previous ep was written solely off of what was fun to play, while the new stuff is more concerned about telling a story.  One of the main things that'll be missing from the new Sloss material will be the programmed drums. I'll be handling drumming duty......as I continue to learn them.

Furnace EP

This is the first release for SLOSS.  It's a 17 minute EP, with a loose concept based around Sloss Furnace in Birmingham, Alabama.  This project was started as a doom project, but evolved into a whatever  I want to play project.  This EP is kind of all over the place because it started doom then went in the grind direction then death metal then I stopped caring and just wrote an EP that was fun to play.  It currently is instrumental because the vocalist backed out.  I might add vocals to this, I might not.  I don't really care about this EP at this point.  I'm already moving in new directions and hopefully every album will be different.

The album can be downloaded for free here: http://sloss.bandcamp.com/album/furnace-instrumental-version
